Jan 2, 2009 - i think the scene with the models is especially satire.. she says: " you think im dumb dont you?" then says: "i dont mind, theres something sweet about you...." Out of anyone she couuld have gone hmoe with at the club she picks the murdering psychopath! How "dumb"

Jan 2, 2009 - I've read the book too and I have the same questions. I think that he may have murdered no one. Bateman is a loser who idolizes serial killers and wishes he could mimic their actions, but he's too weak to follow through with it. His killings are just fantasy, the same as you or I fantasize about shooting someone who cuts us off on the interstate. Just remember that Bateman is a loser who THINKS he's cool.

Jan 2, 2009 - hmmm....you make a good point. I mean, when he's talking to his lawyer towards the end of the book, his lawyer is like "Bateman? He's a wimp".

alio3200 Says:

Jan 6, 2009 - the fact that the estate agent says don't make any trouble implies that they did find bodies in paul's apartment, so that was real. yeah the lawyer does say that he had dinner with paul but one of the main themes of this book is mistaken identity, all the people are very similar and people are constantly getting other people's name wrong, so the lawyer may have mistaken paul for someone else. i don't think we ever supposed to really know, the author made it ambiguous on purpose.
