Nov 29, 2008 - Innerlight....you should check your info and get off ur "holier-than-thou" soapbox. This was NOT written for "The Exorcist", and Oldfield chafes whenever that is brought up. Mike was virtually unknown back in 1973 when that movie came out. The first 2 minutes of TB was added to the soundtrack LATER ON. Tubular Bells is an entity all of its own, and I think it's a damn shame that such a magnificent piece of music is constantly associaed with a piece of garbage like the "Exorcist".

Dec 3, 2008 - It was. But the actual album is a note 2 note re-make of the original Tubular Bells. And as you can hear, this is not.

Dec 8, 2008 - The best composition in the history of music. Re: "The Exorcist". Friedkin wanted no music in the film. Krzysztof Pendereckis work was utilized, minimally. He thought Oldfields piece as a "lullaby" from Chris MacNeil to her daughter. It was a directorial afterthought. Incidentally, Friedkin disposed of, literally, the music composed by Lalo Schifrin. (Im certain that pissed on Warner Bros. as well as Schifrin).

Dec 8, 2008 - I don't think "The Exorcist" is a piece of garbage. I know Oldfield doesn't like the association, frankly it irritates me too. Virgin Records had the decision, not Oldfield.

Dec 16, 2008 - mike oldfield became a recluse shortly after this was made. richard branson had to beg him to do more music under the virgin lable to which he was signed. didnt want the fame apparently. the guy is without doubt the biggest talent ever found.

Dec 19, 2008 - Exorcist is garbage ?!!! Oh man ! You have absolutely no knowledge of film making and you sure have no taste either. Need some coffee?
Modelstate Says:
Dec 20, 2008 - You should also read the wiki about Mike. There is in there that du to the contract he did not have enough time that he wanted to make the tubular bells right. That is way there is a II, 2003 and a III version. It is really great to hear them in a row to hear the progression it makes and the later the version the bigger it gets.
