Nov 20, 2008 - he mentioned no special tapes to buy but i believe if your wanting to record in HD then you need to spend more money on the HD mini DV tapes. I have a camcorder from back in the day using the regular tapes so i doubt i'd be able to record over them since they arent HD tapes

MindlessVids Says:

Nov 25, 2008 - Its 1440 with rectangular pixels not 1980 as with all HDV tape camcorders.BUT, the best thing about this that he didnt mention is that you can recored HD video and take 3)4MB stills at the same time. The birthday cake senerio, where you want to record the singing etc. but want a picture too.

Dec 7, 2008 - You can use regular miniDV tapes to do HD. DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON HD VIDEO TAPES. If you plan on recording over the tapes and reusing, then buy the higher prices $20 a tape ones. But the $2 sony's that you can pickup at walmart are PERFECT. I do stock videos with my HV30 and they are perfect with the cheap tapes. don't be tricked.

Dec 15, 2008 - Hey, I have a question for TigerTV or anyone who has used this camera. I am considering buying this camera although I've read that in some cases it can suffer from a snapping or skipping appearance while panning or tracking. Could anyone give some information on what they found with this camera. Is this not a problem with the camera? Thanks.

Dec 23, 2008 - I have a question about all these HD camcorders everyone seems to be selling...when you record them how are you going to get the Full HD on your tv? I mean if you wanted to really, wouldnt you have to record them to like a Blu-Ray disc in order to get the full HD quality? I have always had great luck with the Mini-DVD recorders...I just really see the point in why someone would need to record there kids basketball game in HD, now if you were a videographer and thats your job I could see that.

GunGuy0 Says:

Dec 23, 2008 - But for like parties or your kids sporting events or what have you, I think regular format would be just fine..I guess its just the current market hype lol.

GunGuy0 Says:

Dec 23, 2008 - "I just dont really see the point in why someone would need to record there kids basketball game in HD, now if you were a videographer and thats your job I could see that." fixed

Jan 1, 2009 - Yeah, "a news crew will be jealous." LOL CMOS sensors smears too BTW.Nice camera, but hate Sony's proprietary memory Stick. That's what keeps the masses away from Sony still and video cameras.

Firespectrum122 Says:

Jan 2, 2009 - would i need a hd capture card to get footage in hd? im not sure if i have one in my pc, and the quality isn't so great when i capture it. also, when editing in premiere, the slow-mo setting on the camcorder is much smoother than the one when i set it at, say 300fps. Can somebody help me solve this problem? ty
