Sep 5, 2008 - I was in a very similar situation years ago on the L.I.E. in New York. There was black ice, and highway patrol closed off portions of the main hwy. Too bad they didn't bother to check the off ramp they sent us down, which also had black ice. There were cars piled up all over the ramp, and I had to basically slalom my way down to a clear point where I managed to stop the car against the curb by turning into it. I avoided hitting over 20 cars!!! I am a skilled driver, but even that feat amazed me!
