May 18, 2007 - The Airflow models were in Australia from 1934. One of the famous Chrysler models and still in the road was Eric Hoyes REDEX Rally car run in 1953 around Australia. The car at that time was 19 years old and stayed with the pack as number one until driver weariness caused withdrawal. A great restoration job and YES Iagree why were they not the most successful car in America. My personal transport is a Buick Special series 40 1938 black sedan.

Jun 7, 2007 - This isn't just a car, it's a piece of artwork. What happened to cars in the 1980's through the 2000's? Why can't they build cars like this with modern updates???? In my opinion there are only a handful of cars today that will become classics.

Aug 17, 2007 - The effect the DeSoto and Chrysler Airflow had on the U.S. automobile is still felt today. Just look at the styling of Mercury's latest SUV or Nissan's Maxima.
34airflow Says:
Aug 17, 2007 - Having said that, I prefer the style of the '34 over the later Airflows. :-) Still, any Airflow is cool. Thanks for posting.

Aug 18, 2007 - When I was 12 in 1948 my father purchased a 1936 Chrysler Imperial Airflow for $500. It was in perfect shape. I will always remember the mother of pearl Speedometer, the plush ride and the radio that had the antenna under the car. It would cruise 80 all day long. Thanks for the memories,

Aug 18, 2007 - Many Airflows would up in crashes because they didn't stop too fast and the steering was so slow. Lots of turns lock to lock. Although they were ahead with hydraulic brakes, others were still mechanical, they were very heavy and slow to stop and slow to get out off being involved in crashes.
1936flow Says:
Oct 15, 2007 - Wow!!! This tops the looks of any modern car.I think this looks superior to the '34s, '35s or '37s. If you got your power brake operational, this bad boy would stop reasonably. If you saw Jay Leno's Garage of his '34, at the end of his video you'll see an Airflow being dropped off a cliff the size of an eight story building, then you would realize you wouldn't do too bad in a crash. The steering is state of the art for the time! With a little care, one could do fine on the roads today.

Aug 16, 2008 - I have a local friend who used to have an airflow, now sticks to Mitchells and another local guy who owns Velies and Moline vehicles - you probably know both guys; I noticed your older antique vehicle plate. The 1934 Hupmobile had a grill and headlight config that was almost the same. The 3 piece windshield was something. They went to 1 piece in 1935. Nice to see this video :)

Sep 16, 2008 - Does this car have air conditioning ? -rolls windshield up- lol Really nice car, got introduced to this type of car by this excellent game called mafia: city of lost heaven.

May 3, 2007 - This is one great looking car. You can easily tell it is a very smooth and powerfull antique auto. I understand that Airflows held the closed car land speed record from 1934 to 1957. It's too bad this one isn't the bigger more spacious 4 door Imperial Model.
