Nov 9, 2008 - I think a few D90 buyers were hoping they'd got themselves a "D300 on the cheap," and talked up it's capabilities as perhaps, as its newer it night be even better than the D300.A nice thought for some; until, DPR's actual review squashed that thought! Still many D90 owners think that the sensor is identical to that of the D300; It's not! It is similar and probably the same as the Sony A700 sensor and I'm sure the D90 is still a very capable mid-range camera. It's just not a D300.

Nov 9, 2008 - If you want to trade detail for less noise, it's easy. Just set your NR to high. However, NR=low is the best trade-off between noise and detail for D300.BTW, the D300 has 1002 segment matrix metering while the D90 has 420 so its metering is never going to be as good. It's just not a D300.

Nov 10, 2008 - Um yeah I'm saying the audio quality is flat out bad...has a ringy tone to high frequencies like a low bitrate mp3...compared to the quality of video its like having a ferrari in performance and looks with a suzuki interior...so i think thats reason to complain...but I always say, if you want video get a camcorder, takes great shots...love my camera!!!

Nov 13, 2008 - sorry to hear about your dad- (in a relative way- I know I didnt know him!) but its nice you want to take up photography in his name- 2 things- just get what your budget can afford, and secondly if you have his d2x use that as well, you will get the hang of it with enough practice...

Jan 3, 2009 - DSLR's have a disadvantage over digital cameras. lets say if you were to make a macro photo shoot with a DSLR you need to buy a dedicated macro lens where as on digital cameras you won't need to buy macro lenses due to the fact that, digital cameras have macro modes which is achieved trough software and the second point is that digital cameras won't let you change the lens.

herblackadder Says:

Jan 3, 2009 - no need to purchase other lenses to shoot in movie mode.

hayeda80 Says:

Jan 6, 2009 - How can you even attempt to compare DSLRs with standard digital cameras? Yes you may shoot a few macro pics with some more expensive regular cameras, but they will be nowhere nearly as high quality as a close up you'd shoot even with the crappiest of DSLRs.

Jan 8, 2009 - Nikon D90 is a brilliant camera and a lot of what it can do is not always apparent. But have a look at my music video I shot with this camera.
