This is a short 2 min ish video I edited from footage shot with the Letus35Flip Enhanced. Used different lenses to see the effects. Basically the picture quality is very good, some vignetting with 20mm lens cos did not zoom in enough.

Apr 25, 2008 - So I know that AF functions on lenses won't work with the letus, but are you using an AF Nikon 50mm F1.4D set to manual? Or are you using just a normal manual focus F1.4D? Would 1.2 be even better in your estimation?

Apr 26, 2008 - I don't usually comment on YouTube videos, but found yours while investigating the HV30 and 35mm adapter. Wonderful content. Great presentation. Short, sweet and effective.

Apr 27, 2008 - thanks for your comments...did you try other brand b4?eg.brevis35..do you know anything it compare with letus35.tq
BorgKingKong Says:
Apr 27, 2008 - I use a manual 50mm 1.4D. The newer automatic lenses are no good for the Letus cos you can't control the Aperture size. I can control mine from 1.4 to the smallest size to control DOF and light.

Apr 27, 2008 - Hi, I put my Letus 35mm back on to my DVX again (I haven't played with it for over 6 months!) and I just realised again how HEAVY the whole set up is. You really need good forearm and wrist strength to keep it steady, especially with the rails

Apr 27, 2008 - Thanks. I'm planning to shoot this coming weekend, after a LONG one year hiatus...!

May 8, 2008 - Where did u purchase the letus adapter and the lens, how much were both items and does it block alot of light if it were to be used at night in low light?
BorgKingKong Says:
May 8, 2008 - bought it from the Letus35 designer Quyen, search the net for his site. Lens u need to shop around and they all have varying costs depending on brand and how fast they are. The set up does block out a lot of light, even with a 1.4D lens.

May 27, 2008 - Thanks for posting this great sample vid of the 35mm adaptor!! I just bought the letusextreme package for my jvc gyHD100 (best cinematic cam in the world under 8k in my opinion). I'm REALLY confused about 35mm lenses now . If I don't want super extreme DOF blurs (e.g your cute daughter in focus, but her hand was blurred out, that's TOO extreme for my project), what lens would you recommend? Manual functions are best right? (aviod automatic?)
BorgKingKong Says:
May 27, 2008 - Buy a manual lens with adjustable aperture ring so you can control the DOF. The reason why I have such shallow DOF is because I open up the lens to f1.4 to allow light to come in. You might get the required DOF at say 2.8-3.5 but you'll need more light.

Jun 19, 2008 - I saw some vignetteing in some of the clips is that how it looks normally and you are cropping the image in post on others to get rid of it? What Macro is the Letus using to zoom in on the focus screen?

aimhelix Says:
Sep 28, 2008 - Ski, he is shooting with a camcorder. The Letus adapter is an adapter that lets you use 'bright' lenses on your camcorder to achieve very shallow DOF as if you were shooting with you camera at the widest apertures. Camcorders are incapable of shooting footage w/good DOF so adapters like Letus, Jag35, or DIY kits are needed to use, say a 50mm. F1.4 lens to achieve this film look. :)

Sep 28, 2008 - i get it now. never knew that film had aperture too, but still amazing footage

Oct 4, 2008 - Such a beautiful family and fantastic footage. I have the Xh-A1, the Letus is in the post and the beautiful lady is already in residence. Now all we need is a gorgeous kid. Thanks for giving me some inspiration on what to do to fill the time while I'm waiting for the Letus to arrive.

Oct 26, 2008 - Do you feel that you a lot of light loss with the f3.5? I've been advised to very fast lenses, but your footage looks great with (assumingly) natural light.

Apr 24, 2008 - Hmm.. yes it is possible, but you have to hold it carefully and tape the joining point between the letus and DVX. It does strain the lens on the DVX alot. I have put rails on simply cos it helps reduce strain but adds alot more weight!
