This is a 10 minute flight in a Enstrom F280FX 225HP turbocharged engine. Speeds of 122MPH, useful load of 1030lbs, gross 2600lbs, HIGE 13,600', 3.5 hour endurance, 58" wide 3 person cabin. Pilot Bob and Cameron (CFI) Bay Helicoptours of San Carlos and Hemet. (LA & SF) Cameron is a great flight instructor and the 280FX a great trainer helicopter as well as a stable and easy to fly platform. Our trip is over a couple of warm, clear and windy days out of Hemet and French Valley airport. The Enstrom is a 3 bladed rotor system and is one of the safest helicopters to fly. The are still in production today and produce about 30 to 40 piston and turbine helicopters a year.

Nov 25, 2007 - it sounds like a VW

y217 Says:

Nov 25, 2007 - Its like a VW in that it is an air-cooled engine but more like a VW on steroids with the turbo chargers. That makes it a turbo charged 225HP engine.

Nov 30, 2007 - that's cool, ive actually seen a VW beetle once with superchargers on it

Feb 24, 2008 - is a rotorway?is a car motor?

y217 Says:

Feb 24, 2008 - No...es un Lycoming aeroplane motor.Rotorway? No way! Enstrom! A real helicopter...

sdrfgvrfgvsfravgdsvS Says:

Feb 24, 2008 - a toy helicopter

y217 Says:

Feb 24, 2008 - A toy with an expensive price tag. This is the most powerfull non turbine helicopter in production today. Way heavier and more powerfull than an R22, not as fast as an R44 but better rate of climb and payload. This helicopter is perfect for hot, high and heavy uses.

sealyon1 Says:

Feb 24, 2008 - sdrfgvfgvfravgdsvS...you must fly kit airplanes or RC airplanes as Enstroms and other full sized helicopters are hardly toys. They are complex flying machines that must be mastered in order to fly. It is not a car motor or rotorway. Enstroms are the finest and most powerfull turbocharged helicopter in production in the world today. Only a small percentage of pilots ever try to fly helicopters because of the expense and difficulty. Toys are for children and these are hardly toys.
