Nov 17, 2008 - how is this irresponsible this is common practice, most items to be scrapped are shredded, especially used cars. they are crushed at the junk yard and shipped to be recycled where they are shredded and reduced to their components, it is easy to separate like metals when they are in little bits. and for marketing, of course it works, there arn't many shredders that size that could do that good a job on a car.
