If you're referring to the Canon XL H1, it SHOULD be a more complete cam, since it costs over twice as much as the Sony Z1U, and about three times as much as the Sony FX1. So keep this in mind when comparing features, etc. (and no, I don't work for Sony, nor sell their products... just a happy FX1 owner.)

I had no idea on how to use that!The only thing is that as I bought my FX1 in Japan, all buttons and menus are in Japanese and I can't understand a thing !!!Does anyone know if there's any way I could perhaps "upgrade" the camera's firmware, adding english language to it?If not, does anyone know anywhere I can find a graphical representation of the menu items and sub-items so I could use that to compare and find the appropriate function in my camera?Thanks, guys!

Jul 5, 2007 - Canon XL-H1 is not a real shoulder camera. I Think the XL-H1 is an amatorial kamera with a good picture quality but not much better HVR-V1. The interchangable optick is not "manual" but semi-automatik.For 10000$ is this camera to expensive. An HVR-V1 is a better solutions, because she offers real 25/24p caputre, small body and excellent sound inputs.

Aug 1, 2007 - I have canon Xm2 cam with many mechanical problems..so my new cam is Sony z1...never back to canon even if it offers the best cam....Sony and of course panasonic..
